Fall Beauty Trends

1) Plums
Without a doubt the "it" color for fall is plum. What is great about the color plum is that it can work on any skin tone. It can be worn on the eyes, lips, and nails. How I will wear the trend: Since I am a little young to be wearing plum lips I will be wearing Nars Daphne eyeshadow on the lid and Nars D. Goregeous in the crease. For my nails I am loving the color "Just a little Dangerous" by Sephora OPI.
2) Two tone
Dual toned lips and cheeks are a huge fall trend. Though it is bold, worn with a neutral look it will look amazing. How I will wear the trend: I am not a big fan of the two toned lips so I will be skipping out on that. I am loving two toned eyes though using Buxom eueshadows in Poodle and Shitzu.
Tried and True trends: These trnds are more timeless and will be in style for years to come: smoky eye, neutrals, red lips, and liner art. If you would like any more information on any of those trends please comment.

New Mac product

Mac cosmetics just released a new mascara call Haute and Naughty. What's so special about this mascara is the that it has two different wands. One wand is for a more natural look and the other one is for a more dramatic look. Normally I am not a huge fan of Mac mascaras but I have never seen a mascara like this before so I will definetly give it a try. Also the packaging is super cute. Review to come soon.

Awful advertising

A few days ago I went to check my email and I see this advertisement from Sigma makeup. It proclaimed "achieve your summer glow" and this was the picture. I almost laughed when I saw it. The girl in the picture looks sweaty and gross not fresh and dewy. This was really bothering me because I do not think anyone wants to look like that in the summer. Come on Sigma pick a better photo next time. Please comment if you agree or disagree with me.
P.S. Sorrt about the randomness of this post I just needed to get it off my chest.

IMATS

I wouldn't be a true beauty blogger if I did not talk about IMATS (International Makeup Artists Tradeshow). It is this weekend in California. Inforunately it is impossible for me to go because of my job and my location (I live in New York). However I would die to go. Please comment if you are one of the lucky ducks who are going. However if I did go I know I would spend WAY too much money so maybe it is a good thing I'm not going.

Items I have been loving lately

I have recently started changing up my makeup everyday and I have been using a lot of different products. All of the products have been inspired by summer.
1) Mac to the beach eye kohl in "Float on By" this is actually sold out but it is the most beautiful turquoise color
2) Sephora waterproof eyeliner in "flashy pink" this color is a beutiful shimmery pink that is great for the pool because it does not come off
3) Mac eyeshadow in "clarity" this bright blue color is great for a pop of color on the lashline
4) Revlon lipstick in "kiss me coral" this color is a very dark coral and looks great with a neutral lid

Lip Balms

During the summer is when my lips face the most elements. They are constantly in the sun and heat. This makes it extremely important to always spply lipbalm. I have tried countless lip balms and have narrowed it down to my favorite summer picks:
1) Mac tinted lip conditioner $14.50- http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT164&PRODUCT_ID=642. This is a really great product. It feels so soft and smooth on your lips. It also provides a sheer wash of color and SPF 15 so it is perfect for being out in the sun.
2) Body shop lip butters $8.00- This is the thickest and most luxurious lip balm ever. It really moisturizes your lips and smells like heaven. My favorite is Guarana. One thing is that you cannot apply too much or your lips look white but other than that it is great.
3) Burts Bee's $2-3- This is by far the lip balm I use the most. I always have a tube of it in my pocket. I love because it cools your lips. It is not the most moisturizing lip balm though.

4) Nivea chap stick $2-3- This chapstick is extremely moisturzing and creamy, it always leaves my lips feeling soft. The only problem is it does not have a scent nor any color, but it is a great lip balm to throw on.

5) Eos lip balm $4-5- This lip balm is the best value for your money. If I had to pick one lip balm as my ultimate favorite it would be this one. It smells amazing and moisturizes very well. It is also organic which is always great. I cannot rave about this enough.

Low maintenence

It has been forever since I talked to you girlies. My last exam is June 16th so after that you can expect plenty more posts from me. Right now since I am so bogge down with school work I am wearing very minimal makeup. Basically just moisturizer, concealer, powder, highlighter, bronzer, a little liner on the top lashline, mascara, and lip balm. This produces a very fresh faced and awake look that a really lie for school. I recently purchased some things so expect a post coming soon about the new items.

Makeup shopping list

Quick tip #1: If you girls are like me you will be out at the mall shopping for makeup and when you get to the store you will be ovewhelmed and not remember what you came to get. This happened to me so often that I decided I HAD to find a solution. I got a mini notebook and now everytime I am watching a youtube video or see something I want I write it down. I keep the notebook in my purse so when I am out I can just grab it to remember what I need to get. Now I NEVER forget what I need, the only problem is it just fuels my makeup addiction (:.
PS- Sorry my posts have short lately I have been super busy with school ect.

Inspiration

The other day I was doing my makeup and I realized my makeup area was really boring looking. So, I got out ALL my old makeup magazines and started cutting out photos that inspired me. I took them and taped them up around my mirror. Now my makeup area looks so much prettier and it inspires me. I encourage you do do the same.

Favorite Summer lipstick

I was at Target the other day and found the prettiest lipstick. It is called "kiss me coral" by Revlon. I love this color because it is very in for summer and looks great with a tan. It is matte which I am very happy about because I hate chunky glitter in lipstick.

A few items from Sephora

I just went to sephora today and picked up a few goodies.
I purchased:
1) Duwop lip venom- I ran out of mine so I thought I'd get a new one since I love it so much
2) Dior show iconic mascara- I have never tried this mascara and thought I'd give it a shot.
3) Nars smudge proof eyeshadow base- This is brand new from NARS and I was really excited to try this because I needed a new eye primer and I love the brand.
If you want my opinions on any of these products please comment.

Nail trend for spring

There is no bigger nail trend for spring than coral nail polish. Coral is now showing up in clothes, jewelry, and especially nail polish. My current favorite coral is Carosel Coral by Essie, I purchased it at my local Trade Secret.
Nail quick tip: If you do not have a nail dryer and your in a rush to make your nails dry just use your blow dryer.

DETOX

Hey everyone I just wanted to let you know I am doing a 2 week detox. For those who do not know a detox is when you only eat certain foods to help get rid of toxins from your body. It makes your feel better and your skin clears up. Here is what I am eating:
-a HUGE bottle of Evian water at school
-lots of fruits and vegtables (I try to eat every color of the rainbow in fruits and vegtables so I can get plenty of vitamins)
-plain brown rice
I know it does not sound like a lot but I have not been hundny yet on my detox. So far it has been going very well. More updates to come.

PRODUCT ALERT do not buy

I went to Target the other day to pick up a new mascara. As I was leaving I noticed some new products by Physicans Formula. They had some new Mineral Wear products designed to correct irregular coloring. I sometimes have redness on my cheeks so I thought I'd try the color correcting powder. I was almost not going to buy it when I found out it was $15 (a little more than I like to pay for drugstore products). I deciede to buy it anyway because I had good luck in the past with physicans formuala products. One day I was having a problem with facial redness so I deciede to try it out. To my pleasure it seemed to take care of the redness. When I got home later that night I noticed red patches on my skin, I thought it was just a coincidence so I wore it again the next day and my face looked AWFUL. I am very displeased with this product my skin still has not completely recovered. Moral of the story: do not buy an expensive drugstore porduct without doing your homework.

Organization

One thing I am completely OCD about is my makeup organization. My vanity has to be completely clean when I put on my makeup and everything has to be in its proper place. I have a set of 6 mini pink drawers I store all my lip products in, two drawers each for chapstick, lipgloss, and lipstick. In my vanity I have two very large size drawers and in one drawer I store face products and in the other drawer eye products. I have mini compartments in the drawers to separate and organize things. Please comment below if you would like to see pictures of my organization.

Dual Use Products

When you are in a pinch it is possible to use one product for another purpose if you do not have anything on hand. Here are some examples of products that can be used for other purposes.
1. Cream blush/lipstick If you have cream blush on hand you can put in on your lips as a lip stain, and vice versa if you have a lipstick.
2. Clear mascara/brow gel If you have clear mascara you can use it as a brow gel and you can use brow gel on your lashes.
3. Lipgloss/eyeshadow If you need some color on your lids you can use gloss on you lids for some sparkle.
4. Concealer/foundation When you need to conceal a blemish and you do not have concealer just use extra foundation.
5. Foundation/eye primer You can use foundation as an eye primer and it works almost as well.
I hope this helped you guys, please comment if you have any more dual product ideas.

Lady Gaga lipstick????

Mac cosmetics has a collection called Vivi Glam that releases produtcs a few times a year. The items in the line are designed by a celebrity and all the proceeds benefit aids. The lastest addition to the line is a lipstick designed by lady gaga. One would think the color would be completely outrageous and unwearable, but that is not the case though. The color is a bubblegum pink and it is a pretty basic color everyone should own. I saw it at my local MAC store and was not completly sold on it. I went to NYC to a counter and I inquired about it and found out there was only one left in the entire store!?!?! I could not resist so I bought it and I am in love with the color.

VIB

Many people probably know about this but I thought I'd share it anyway. Sephora has a program called beauty insiders where you earn points by spending money. You can use your points for freebies ect. Their newest program is called VIB which is a step up from beauty insiders. You earn VIB "status" when you spend $350 in one year. Me, being an avid makeup enthusiast earned VIB in January. For being a VIB you earn many rewards and one big reward every month. This month I earned a Bare Escentuals eye kit which I'm so excited about. So become a beauty insider and start earning points!

My everyday makeup routine

Even though I love bold and fun makeup it is just not practical for everyday. I like to use minimal makeup to let my natural beauty shine through and play down any flaws. Here are all the steps I do every day:
1) use my clinique moisturizer to prime my face
2) For foundation it varies but what I use right now is an arbonne tinted moisturizer because it is almost summer and it is humid out. For foundation I use NARS sheer matte when I want a little heavier coverage.
3) For concealer I use make up forever HD concealer and on top of that I use benefit powderflage because I have significant dark circles.
4) Nars laguna bronzer for contouring
5) I use mac studio finish natural to set my makeup
6) I then dip a angled brush into water and black eyeshadow and line my upper lid. I do not line my lower lashline for everyday because I think it appears too harsh for school.
7) I use clinique lash doubling mascara and then follow with loreal telescopic mascara for added length.
8) For lips I usually just use nivea chap stick but when I want to have some color I use my favorite lipstick (angels blush by nutrogena).
This seems like a lot when listed out but the final product is a look that makes you appear fresh faced and alert. Who wouldn't want to look like that in monday morning physics?!?!?!

The perfect pout

"A full pout is sign of youth and a hallmark of beauty" -Randi Shinder

There are many products on the market today to achieve pillow lips. You can go to sephora or ulta and find tens of lip plumping products. Here are the prducts and steps I use to create the perfect pout.

1) Exfoliate- I mix a little plain white sugar and a little olive oil together and then scrub it on my lips and rinse.

2) Moisturize- I slather on a bunch of Nivea chap stick and let is soak in for 10 mins.

3) Plump- I use Duwop lip venom which works miracles. Sometimes I just leave it one and other times I let is soak in and then rinse it off and follow with my favorite gloss or lipstick.

Beauty is skin deep

Many people believe that makeup creates a new "face." The truth is it simply does not. Makeup is not meant to make your face different, only to enhance it. In order to make your makeup look good you must have a good "canvas" (aka skin). No one is born with perfect skin (though the gene pool was extremely generous to some people). It takes plenty of time and effort to make your skin look its best. I personally, being 16, have never had acne. I have never broken out or had a single zit. Many people consider me very lucky but that is not entirely true. I have a different problem...dry skin. My skin is bone dry all the time. It is itchy and sometimes even flaky. I decided to see a dermatologist to take care of my problems and I am now on 3 prescription cremes which have magically cured my dry skin. Everyone has different skin and there is no magic cure all. One must experiment to find the best skincare routine for them. Here are some of my skincare tips:
1) This is the most important tip of all, make sure to wash off 100% of your makeup off before you go to bed. It is extremely determental to your skin to leave makeup on.
2) Change your pillowcase daily, this prevents oils and bacteria from getting back on your skin
3) See a dermatologist if necassary, if you have tried everything and your skin is still bad just go
4) put moisturizer on right after you wash your face so it can soak it better
5) use a toner to keep away blotchiness
6) USE SUNSCREEN
